Dr. Christos Vlachos is the Founder & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of UNIC UNIC Global Training and the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the University of Nicosia (UNIC) – EDEX: Educational Excellence Corporation Ltd. He is a member of the Council of the University of Nicosia, Chairman of the UNIC’s Council Finance Committee and a Board member of EDEX – Educational Excellence Corporation.
Dr. Vlachos graduated from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the UK in 1990. In 1996, he was awarded an MBA degree from Edinburgh Business School and was also admitted to membership in the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) in the UK. He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Accounting in September 2001 from Middlesex University.
From October 1990 to September 1992, he worked as an auditor at Coopers & Lybrand, where he was responsible for auditing medium and large companies, including banks and insurance companies. He then became a Founder and Director of Accountancy Tutors, which provided professional training to audit firms, university graduates, and other students preparing for professional accountancy examinations in the UK (ACCA, ICAEW, etc.). Following a merger between Accountancy Tutors and the University of Nicosia, Dr. Vlachos served as the Director of Professional Studies of UNIC.
In March 1998 he founded UNIC UNIC Global Training, a multinational training organization with training centers in Cyprus, Greece and Romania, a 100% subsidiary of the University of Nicosia (UNIC). In 2011 he was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the University of Nicosia – EDEX: Educational Excellence Corporation Ltd.
The University of Nicosia is currently Ranked among the Top 501-600 Universities in the world by the Times Higher Education Worldwide University Rankings and ranked Number 1 University in Cyprus and Greece – alongside the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the University of Crete and the University of Cyprus.
Dr. Vlachos has also been very active, acting as a member of the Board of Directors of various companies listed on the Cyprus Stock Exchange. In 2004, 2006 and 2009 he published the three-volume best-seller textbooks: “International Financial Reporting Standards in the Greek Language”.
