SUMMARY:IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 – Lessons Learned After Implementation (HRDA)
DESCRIPTION:5 December\, 2023 \n\nCPD hours: 7 \nAim\nThe seminar intends to cover in-depth the principles of two very important IFRSs\, the Revenue from Contracts with Customers and Leases (IFRS 15 and IFRS 16).\nRevenue is one of the most debatable topics in financial reporting. IFRS 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers is effective from 1 January 2018 and mainly replaces IAS 18 Revenue Recognition and IAS 11 Construction Contracts.\nIn addition\, the International Accounting Standard Board has issued a new standard on leases\, IFRS 16 “Leases”. The effective date of the standard is 1 January 2019.\nIFRS 16 is a major change of the way the entities account for leases because it removes the current lessee accounting treatment for operating and finance leases. Instead\, the new standard introduces a single lessee accounting model. \nObjective\nThe seminar includes detail coverage of the IFRS 15 and IFRS 16. On completion of this seminar participants should be able to:\n• Gain understanding of the IFRS 15 & 16\n• Be able to apply and evaluate the principles covered\n• Read\, comprehend and evaluate financial statements incorporating accounting information covered by these IFRSs.\n• Identify differences to current accounting treatment \nParticipants’ Profile\nThe seminar is primarily addressed to accountants and auditors in the profession or industry. It is also relevant and appropriate to any individual having an active role in preparing\, analyzing and presenting financial statements. \nCertification\nAll participants will be awarded a certificate. Each hour of attendance will account for one unit of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as required for members of most professional bodies. \nDownload Seminar ProgrammePre-Registration Form

SUMMARY:Anti-Money Laundering (AML): Prevention\, Suppression and the Challenges Ahead
DESCRIPTION:4 December\, 2023 \n\nCPD hours: 7 \nAim\nFighting money laundering and terrorist financing contributes to global security\, integrity of the financial system and sustainable growth. Laws to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism are designed to prevent the financial market from being misused for these purposes. It is essential that gatekeepers (administrative service providers\, accountants\, lawyers\, banks and other obliged entities) apply measures to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing. Traceability of financial information has an important deterrent effect. \nThe 5th EU AML Directive (adopted into Cyprus Law in 23rd February 2021)\, builds on the 4th EU AML Directive and aims to further combat financial crime by boosting existing transparency rules. The 5th EU AML Directive also aims to ensure a tightening of current European regulations to prevent money laundering and the financing of terrorist activity. \nThe 6th EU AML Directive (adopted into Cyprus Law on 17th March 2021)\, harmonizes the definitions of money laundering offences throughout member states\, with the primary aim to remove any loopholes in national legislations\, a list of 22 predicate offences is introduced\, criminal liability is extended to legal persons\, tougher punishments for offenders is established\, and cooperation between states for prosecutions of financial crimes is enhanced. \nObjective\nBy the end of the seminar\, participants will be able to have a thorough understanding of the current AML Legislation\, the challenges ahead and the new compliance landscape and more importantly to offer practical solutions for an efficient and effective implementation through a number of real-life AML cases studies\, both from Cyprus and Global AML experience. \nParticipants’ Profile\nBack-office Staff\, Compliance Staff\, Risk Management Staff\, AML Staff\, Heads of Compliance Departments\, Heads of Risk Management Departments\, Heads of AML Departments\, Accountants\, Lawyers\, Internal Auditors\, External Auditors\, Executive Directors\, Non-Executive Directors\, Regulatory Compliance Advisors/Consultants. \nCertification\nAll participants will be awarded a certificate.
